As a research institute, Collegium Carolinum primarily employs academic staff. These staff members are concerned with the history and culture of Czechia, Slovakia, the Bohemian Lands, Germany and the Habsburg monarchy during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

At the same time, CC is also a service provider, supporting the academic library, publishing work and doing long-term basic research. Thus, in addition to academics working on research projects, the Institute also employs scholars to manage the Institute’s tasks, as well as employees to provide support for the Institute and its research; in the library, for example, and to take care of its administrative work.
